Updated: Feb 11

Want to make maths fun while spending quality time with your little one? The good news is—you totally can!

Maths isn't just about numbers and worksheets; it’s everywhere in daily life, and you can turn it into a playful, engaging experience. Here are our Five Super simple ways to bring maths into your everyday routine and create some awesome bonding moments along the way.

Kids love helping out in the kitchen, so why not use it as a math lesson?

1. Count Everything!

Seriously, counting is one of the easiest ways to sneak maths into your day. Count steps as you walk, how many blueberries go into their bowl, or even their stuffed animals before bedtime. The more you do it, the more natural numbers will feel to them. Plus, it’s a great way to get them talking and interacting with you!

2. Play with Shapes and Patterns

Shapes are everywhere—just point them out! Look for circles, squares, and triangles in your home or while you’re out and about. You can even turn it into a game: “Can you find something shaped like a triangle?” Sorting objects by shape or colour is another easy way to build those early maths skills.

3. Sing Number Songs

If your little one loves music (and let’s be real, who doesn’t?), number songs are a great way to learn. Try classics like “Five Little Ducks” or “Ten in the Bed.” They’ll be singing, moving, and learning all at once—and you’ll get to share some giggles together.

4. Get Hands-On in the Kitchen

Kids love helping out in the kitchen, so why not use it as a maths lesson? Let them count spoonfuls, compare the sizes of measuring cups, or guess which bowl holds more. It’s a fun way to introduce measuring and fractions without making it feel like a lesson. Plus, you get a snack out of it—win-win!

5. Turn Maths into a Game

Board games, dice games, building blocks—anything that gets your child thinking about numbers and problem-solving counts! Even something as simple as rolling a die and moving spaces on a board helps with number recognition and basic addition. The key is to keep it fun and light, so they stay excited about learning.

Maths doesn’t have to be boring or stressful. When you make it part of your everyday life, it becomes something fun that you and your little one can enjoy together. So, start counting, singing, playing, and exploring—because learning maths should feel like an adventure, not a chore!
